  4.  Thanks for purchasing Private Investigator, the most advanced
  5.  adult title in the industry.

  7.  There are a couple of points however you should take a closer
  8.  look at :

  21. 1. Improving Performance (Windows 95)
  22. ------------------------

  24.  Make sure that Windows 95 is optimised for your CD-ROM drive.
  25.  Windows 95 provides settings for CD caching and for accessing
  26.  various CD-ROM drive speeds.
  27.  
  28.  To review and modify these settings:
  29.  
  30.      1. Select the "My Computer" icon on your desktop and click it
  31.         with the secondary mouse button (usually the right mouse
  32.         button).
  33.  
  34.      2. Choose Properties.
  35.  
  36.      3. Choose the Performance tab.
  37.  
  38.      4. Choose the File System button.
  39.  
  40.      5. Choose the CD-ROM tab.
  41.  
  42.  In this box, make sure that the Supplemental Cache size is set
  43.  to "Large." Also, verify that the Optimise access pattern is
  44.  correctly set for the type of CD-ROM drive that is installed
  45.  on your system (single-speed, double-speed, etc.).

  47. 2. Display problems
  48. -------------------

  50.  There are two versions of the game on this disk. One using WinG
  51.  (an engine which allows you to play both full screen and windowed)
  52.  and one not using WinG which can only play full screen.
  53.  
  54.  If you encounter problems with the windowed version you should try
  55.  the full screen version.

  57. 3. Game sounds
  58. --------------

  60.  If you encounter problems with the sound in the arcade section
  61.  (the screen stalls when sounds are played) you can try to reduce
  62.  the number of channels or disable the game sounds in the setup
  63.  menu. You can also try to logout of your network in order to speed
  64.  things up.

  66. 4. Background sounds
  67. --------------------

  69.  Some sound boards (like the IBM Thinkpad 755c) have no real midi
  70.  built in. Those boards play the midifiles through software which
  71.  causes the game to slow down. In that case you should choose to
  72.  disable the background sounds.
  73.  
  74.  As the background sounds may be too loud on some systems you can
  75.  use the setup utility or the tuner in the office to adjust the
  76.  volume.

  78. 5. Additional levels and cheat keys

  82.  additional arcade levels and cheat keys for the arcade action.
  83.  You can select and load an external level using the last option
  84.  ('Loading external level') in the chopper cockpit.

  86. 6. Memory

  89.  Due to the fact that the Video For Windows system uses DOS memory
  90.  as well you should have at least 500KB free DOS memory. You can
  91.  check this by starting a DOS box and typing MEM. The 'largest
  92.  executable program size' should be at least 500.000.
  93.  One of the symptoms of memory shortage is the fact that you can 
  94.  not start any video to play ar it just shows  picture and then 
  95.  continues.  Make more memory available and this problem will 
  96.  be solved.

  98. 7. AutoPlay in Windows 95
  99. ------------------------

  101.  Private Investigator supports the Windows 95 AutoPlay function.
  102.  The only thing you have to do is to insert the CD and it starts
  103.  playing. As some systems do not support the AutoPlay function
  104.  you have to start the menu program yourself. By starting
  105.  'D:\Investig\Menu.Exe'where 'D' is your CD-Rom drive.

  107.  PS : Take care ! We have encountered problems with some PC-systems
  108.  when the CD is in the CD-drive when you start up Windows '95. 
  109.  Put the CD in the CD-drive after you have started Windows '95.

  111. 8. Password Security
  112. --------------------
  113.  
  114.  As this Private Investigator is an adult CD-game, we have added for 
  115.  your convenience a Password protection. 
  116.  The first time you start Private Investigator, you will be asked 
  117.  to enter your password and re-type it again in the check box (to 
  118.  avoid spelling mistakes). Afterwards, each time you start up this 
  119.  game you will be prompted for your password.
  120.  Should you have forgotten your password or have any other problem
  121.  starting this Private Investigator game, you can go to your
  122.  \WINDOWS directory and delete/edit the file called 
  123.  "IMAGELIN.INI".
  124.  This will delete ALL your settings including your password. Next 
  125.  time you start the game, you will be again considered a first 
  126.  time player. 
  127.  PS : in this case, do not forget to adapt your other settings 
  128.  e.g. ARCADE scrolling, sounds, etc...

  131. 9. Private Investigator Sequel ...

  134.  Look for Private Investigator II ... 
  135.  You get to solve new cases with more girls, more explicit sex and 
  136.  more interactivity. In other words : More fun !
